The Schindler family, owners of Equity Investment Corporation, arrived in St. Croix in 1961 by sailboat after fleeing Castro's Cuba in 1960.  Donn Schindler has been active in St. Croix real-estate development since that time, and has been joined by his sons: Mark, Eric, and Kurt.
